Biography...
He is a well known speaker; he has published legal articles on tax and corporate matters affecting the philanthropy world. Furthermore, he has been the procuring cause of bringing world class speakers to events he has produced for those in the philanthropic sector in the Los Angeles area. He advises major families, corporations and individuals on the philanthropic efforts. He travels extensively to assist his clients around the World. Not only do his clients work domestically in the US, but also globally, trying to solve some of the world’s toughest issues.
He has clients working on clean water wells, ending hunger and fighting homelessness, to curing major diseases to finding ways to prevent cruelty to animals to name a few. He also is the founder and chairman of the Edward Charles Foundation, an umbrella entity that runs the back office for over 85 charitable endeavors.

Matt worked in the Business and Legal Affairs group of MGM Worldwide Television, where he negotiated and drafted domestic and international distribution and licensing agreements, and all other contracts related to MGM’s international sales and networks groups. He advised senior MGM management regarding all business and legal arrangements entered into by the television division of MGM.
Prior to joining MGM, Matt served as Director of Business Affairs and Acquisitions for Sony Pictures Television International, where he negotiated and drafted a multitude of agreements, including licensing agreements, production deals, output agreements and talent contracts that arose under Sony’s international television networks. He counseled Sony’s senior business and legal executives as to all business issues related to his negotiations. As an acquisitions executive, he attended many feature film and television markets with an eye toward product that would best serve to grow Sony’s international networks.
Before joining Sony Pictures, Matt established his own private practice where he handled a variety of transactional matters, from judicial foreclosures to employment and real estate contract negotiations. His commercial transactions included structuring, negotiating and drafting rights acquisitions for traditional and new media, including video game, Internet and print media rights. He has also provided legal counsel to the textile and apparel industry, handling contract negotiations from garment manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and affiliated sub-licensees.
Matt attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, where he received his BA, cum laude, in Communication. Matt received his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California. Matt is a member of the State Bar of California and the US District Court Bar, Central District of California, and is also admitted to the Bar of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
Matt currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Textile Association of Los Angeles (TALA) as well as the Fashion Industries Guild, a major apparel industry charitable contributor to child and neonatal departments of Cedars-Sinai medical Center in Los Angeles. Matt provides support and counseling to newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetics in the South California area.
As a Judge Advocate Officer (JAG), with the rank of Captain in the California State Military Reserve, he provides legal services to the California Army and Air National Guard, including assistance to soldiers and airmen and their families who are in need of legal help before, during and after deployment.
