Kent E Seton, esq.
Kent E Seton, Esq., has been a practicing lawyer for over 20 years and is the founder and managing partner of Seton & Associates.
He is a well known speaker; he has published legal articles on tax and corporate matters affecting the philanthropy world. Furthermore, he has been the procuring cause of bringing world class speakers to events he has produced for those in the philanthropic sector in the Los Angeles area. He advises major families, corporations and individuals on the philanthropic efforts. He travels extensively to assist his clients around the World. Not only do his clients work domestically in the US, but also globally, trying to solve some of the world’s toughest issues.
He has clients working on clean water wells, ending hunger and fighting homelessness, to curing major diseases to finding ways to prevent cruelty to animals to name a few. He also is the founder and chairman of the Edward Charles Foundation, an umbrella entity that runs the back office for over 85 charitable endeavors.
Leila Trutanich, esq.
Leila Trutanich, Esq. has dedicated her professional career to working with and advising philanthropic organizations, start-ups and existing entities. Leila approaches each client and matter individually, as she understands that each client has a specific mission and unique goals that must be addressed to adequately provide him/her with the skills and techniques necessary to run a well-organized, successful charity or business. Leila provides general counsel and advice on a variety of governance and compliance matters and drafts and negotiates corporate transactional contracts for various deal types. Additionally, Leila assists clients in registering and maintaining compliance with trademark applications and filings required by the Untied States Patent and Trademark Office.
Leila is devoted to her clients and has a passion for thoroughly explaining difficult concepts and providing her clients with a comprehensive understanding of the issues presented and the possible and most successful solutions.
Leila graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Science in Television and Radio Production and minors in Legal Studies and Speech Communication. Leila graduated Cum Laude from Western State University College of Law where she earned her Juris Doctor Degree and also obtained a Certificate in Business Law Studies with Distinction. During law school, Leila also served as the President of the Student Bar Association where she focused her efforts on philanthropic endeavors, specifically initiating the school’s now annual, Public Service Week encouraging all law students to volunteer the maximum number of hours to a variety of charitable organizations in Orange County.
Her passion for these initiatives resulted in the Deans of her law school awarding her with The Dean Maryann Jones Achievement and Leadership award upon graduation. She currently resides in Redondo Beach with her husband and her two rescue pets, Monte and Georgie.
August W. Caimi, Esq.
Esquire of Counsel
August W. Caimi, Esq., of counsel, completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard before getting his J.D from Boston Law School. He has served as a Los Angeles superior judge and has been an attorney for major companies and law firms alike, including being the senior counsel for Hilton Hotel Corp, worldwide. Mr. Caimi specializes in business, real estate, nonprofit, and entertainment law. In addition to being an experienced mediator, Mr. Caimi is also a board member for the El Segundo Educational Foundation.
Mathew B Rabin, Esq.
Esquire of Counsel
Mathew B. Rabin’s areas of practice include transactional negotiations and all related pursuits across many industries, including entertainment and media, technology, apparel, footwear and related industries. He has also provided legal counsel on general corporate transactions for small to large closely held businesses.
Matt worked in the Business and Legal Affairs group of MGM Worldwide Television, where he negotiated and drafted domestic and international distribution and licensing agreements, and all other contracts related to MGM’s international sales and networks groups. He advised senior MGM management regarding all business and legal arrangements entered into by the television division of MGM.
Prior to joining MGM, Matt served as Director of Business Affairs and Acquisitions for Sony Pictures Television International, where he negotiated and drafted a multitude of agreements, including licensing agreements, production deals, output agreements and talent contracts that arose under Sony’s international television networks. He counseled Sony’s senior business and legal executives as to all business issues related to his negotiations. As an acquisitions executive, he attended many feature film and television markets with an eye toward product that would best serve to grow Sony’s international networks.
Before joining Sony Pictures, Matt established his own private practice where he handled a variety of transactional matters, from judicial foreclosures to employment and real estate contract negotiations. His commercial transactions included structuring, negotiating and drafting rights acquisitions for traditional and new media, including video game, Internet and print media rights. He has also provided legal counsel to the textile and apparel industry, handling contract negotiations from garment manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and affiliated sub-licensees.
Matt attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, where he received his BA, cum laude, in Communication. Matt received his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California. Matt is a member of the State Bar of California and the US District Court Bar, Central District of California, and is also admitted to the Bar of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
Matt currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Textile Association of Los Angeles (TALA) as well as the Fashion Industries Guild, a major apparel industry charitable contributor to child and neonatal departments of Cedars-Sinai medical Center in Los Angeles. Matt provides support and counseling to newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetics in the South California area.
As a Judge Advocate Officer (JAG), with the rank of Captain in the California State Military Reserve, he provides legal services to the California Army and Air National Guard, including assistance to soldiers and airmen and their families who are in need of legal help before, during and after deployment.
Jonathan Myers is the Impact Advisor for Seton & Associates and creates value by bringing business insight and leadership into the legal nonprofit world. His business, education, and nonprofit experience of over a decade are supplemented with his business acumen and his current education at USC Marshall School of Business. In addition to interacting directly with clients, Jonathan handles the strategic vision, competitive intelligence and knowledge for the firm.
As Communications Executive for the law firms subsidiary, “PhilanthropyTouch” and Athletes Touch, CJ is a master of coordination of all events, coordinates all invites, communications with attendees and potential attendees, coordinates with all venues, speakers and all around do it yourself. He also handles good portions of our digital efforts as well.
Kirk Scott is the Philanthropic Advisor for Seton & Associates and handles all of the marketing, branding and advertising for the firm.
Tani Stephens is the Legal Assistant for the law firm and handles the general day to day duties of the firm.
